Tuesdays are usually my slower night, especially with Fringe being on hiatus until April 7th (What is with that!). However, even with Fringe gone, I would be typically awaiting the riveting performances of the Top 36 on American Idol or the Aussie awesomeness that is Simon Baker in The Mentalist, but this week the auditions were moved to Wednesday night and the Mentalist went missing due to Obama’s State of the Union.
President Obama’s State of the Union Address
First, I must give you guys the number. President Obama received 67 breaks for applause during the speech. In relation to the content, Obama seemed to really convey a sense of optimism. He seems to have that hopeful fervor that we fell in love with during the election, and he finally started to lay out his plan for the future: economic, environmental, etc. Now, one of my favorite moments was when Obama gave that little dig at Bush’s administration with the “debt we inherited” portion of the speech. It made me laugh. You rock, Barack.
But not all of TV was ruined, we were able to be graced with a double dose of the suburban drama that is The Real Housewives…
Ep. “The Housewives Confess”
So after the promos, there was a lot of hype surrounding this episode. Boy, they did not disappoint! To start, Jeff lost his battle with Leukemia in September and I really do feel bad for Gretchen and the heartbreak that comes with missing a loved one. And to that point, I really hate Vicki and Tamra for their horrible accusations and cold-heartedness towards the entire situation. If they watched the show, they would realize that the love was there and to berate Gretchen about their relationship would be seriously emotionally trying. Gretchen, I love you!
Second, the awkward tension between the other housewives (minus Gretchen) and Lynne could be cut with a knife. The worst part was when Lynne started to cry after Jeana said, “I had a Lynn moment, you know like ‘whoa, where am I?'” I really don’t think Lynne is a dumb or stupid woman, but I don’t completely agree with her parenting tactics. Give that kid a kick in the ass and make her get a real job. Seriously!
Third, there was the revisiting of the infamous night when Tamra decided to get Gretchen “naked wasted” at the dinner party. Ladies of the O.C. remember, “tequila makes your clothes fall off!” Now during the reunion episode, Tamra gave a really fake apology to Gretchen and it seems like there is still a little tension there.
And oh the scandal! Who is this J? Tamra seriously accused Gretchen of dating another man behind Jeff’s back. It really made my pulse quicken because you could see that Gretchen was blindsided by this story. I don’t know what the story is or who is telling the truth (everyone has ghosts in their closet), but I do believe that Tamra is a poisonous person who is attacking Gretchen on national television out of shear jealously. Also, where’s the harm in a booty call? Sometimes people need one to cope with the hurt.
All in all, season 4 ended up being pretty entertaining and dramatic. I’m not going to lie, I will probably be watching season 5 when it starts next year.
Ep. “Hamptons Retreat…But No Surrender”
Following The Real Housewives of Orange County reunion, this episode was a bit lack luster. There were some parties in the Hamptons, relationship advice for Bethenny, some beach activities, some shopping and a cancer society benefit. But this show is really going to have to turn up the notch if it wants to keep up with the intense OC women. I must say though, I literally laughed out loud when Bethenny comment about Countess LuAnn de Lesseps. Quote: “That was not very countess. In fact, that was dis-countess.” Hilarity.
So this Tuesday wasn’t the most exciting, but tomorrow we have Lost, Top Chef finale, Life on Mars and American Idol auditions. Damn you American Idol! Moving to Wednesday is going to completely destroy my Thursday lineup. But I fast-forward through the entire results show anyway since I HATE Ryan Seacrest.
Um, there is a chance you watch tv. I’m just throwing that out there.
Haha, yeah and I surprisingly get everything else I need to get done without a problem. It is what happens when 2 am is your bedtime, which is a bit later than some people I know.
