On Thursday: Ugly Betty, Idol, Hell’s Kitchen & Matchmaker

So a few of the regulars (and my Thursday favorites) weren’t running today. Typically, I would be looking forward to new episodes of Smallville, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and The Office (of course!). Oddly enough, even without those shows on today, I still had Ugly Betty, Hell’s Kitchen, American Idol Results, Millionaire Matchmaker, 30 Rock, The Eleventh Hour and Survivor: Tocantins. With such a TV listing tonight, I have decided to only comment on a select few…

Ugly BettyEp. “Things Fall Apart”

So the big surprise of the episode is that Betty discovers that Connor Owens has been skimming off the top. To tell you the truth, I am actually surprised to find out that Connor is an embezzling bastard and glad. I am glad because I thought the show was losing its edge, and this plot twist reinvigorated the comedy-driven drama.

Also, in the midst of this corporate drama, I am excited to see that Betty has a new love interest, Matt. He got his foot in the door last week when he partnered with Betty for a YETI project, and this week they went on their “first date.” It kind of ended in disaster when Betty ditched him (accidentally) while going to the ATM.

Thank God the show is starting to pick up again.

American IdolEp. “Second 12 of 36 Results”

The results shows are always hard for me to get through because of how much Seacrest they put on it. I cannot stand Seacrest. I did, however, like the way they announced the top 3. Instead of the painstaking process of hearing the results for each contestant individually, a set of contestants were placed on the stage and within the set one of the people got ot move on to the Top 12. Here’s who America selected:

Adam Lambert

It is amazing how on I was about the contestants from last night’s episode. I am definitely glad Allison Iraheta made it through rather than one of the other women; she definitely was the best one of them last night. I think of the men, they were definitely easy to predict after watching those performances.

Hell's KitchenEp. “13 Contestants Compete”

I don’t know about all of you out there but I am a HUGE fan of Gordon Ramsey; he’s definitely better than that bastard Jamie Oliver. In relation to Hell’s Kitchen, I have been watching i since Season 1 and have seen quite a few idiots go though the show as well a few culinary masters. The one thing about this show is that I think these contestants are probably not nearly as talented as the chefs that are on Bravo’s Top Chef.

This week the contestants had to cook breakfast for a dining room full of youth cheerleaders and football players and the Red (women) team won. In the dinner service challenge, each team had numerous problems and in the end, Gordon decided to have members of both teams up for elimination. By the grace of God, Seth was the one booted off. I haven’t liked him from episode 1 and I am happy I won’t have to see him again on the show.

In other news, the troublemaker teammate Lacey D’Angelo was moved to the Blue (men’s) team. It is going to be interesting to see if she turns her act around or if it was her who was to blame for he Red Teams problems.

And if you have BBC America and you are not watching Gordon Ramsey’s The F Word, you are seriously missing out.

Millionaire MatchmakerEp. “Laurence & Andrew”

On Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker, Patty took on another two millionaire clients: Laurence and Andrew. Here is what I think about them:

picture-15Laurence Zwirn is a 39-year-old owner and CEO of the vitamin company, Nature’s Purest, and a total extrovert who says whatever is on his mind. I thought he was quite a pig. First, he isn’t able to secure a date from any of the women in the mixer but is lucky to get a date with Marrissa, who seems to be hurten for love. On the date, he seems to only focus on the girls figure and then he proceeds to get her wasted on champagne and vodka. Not really the gentlemen thing to do. To top it all off, Laurence gets very angry with Marrissa after she denies his invitation to join him in Vegas. Get a life dude.

picture-21Andrew Stern is a 34-year-old advertising executive who recently started an Internet company called Rip Lounge, and an introvert who never approaches girls on his own, a major flaw in Patti’s opinion. He definitely was that guy who can do anything he wanted with his career but one who freezes when he is in a room with women. With some of Patty’s help he was able to get going in the mixer and ended up dating Ashley. He took her on a nice picnic in California and they swapped some spit. It turns out that they are still dating. You go Andrew.

This is all I am going to blog about tonight. It is going to be really difficult to decide on what shows to comment on when the entire schedule is running. I guess only future will tell.
