Ep. “11 Finalists Compete”
This week’s theme was one of Simone’s favorites and a crowd pleaser: country. I was excited and it was interesting.
Michael Sarver: Performed “Ain’t Goin’ Down ‘Til the Sun Comes Up.” I must say I am tired of people picking this song to perform on American Idol. There are a zillion words and it is a Garth Brooks classic. Leave the song alone. Michael did alright, but it definitely wasn’t my favorite.
Allison Irahetta: Performed “Blame It On Your Heart.” I thought the performance was alright. I am really starting to enjoy the tone of her voice more and more; she is kind of like a rocker with a touch of punk. A 16-year-old Pink if you will. I think she will definitely be moving on to the next round.
Kris Allen: Performed “To Make You Feel My Love.” I was a big fan of his performance this week. I liked that the song was really stripped down and so focused on the vocals. The whole time I watched it I thought he was singing it to his wife and it was really an emotional rendition. The judges loved it and I think he is definitely safe.
Lil Rounds: Performed “Independence Day.” I definitely agreed with the judges on this one. There are better songs for Lil that would have suited her more than this one. Also, that song had it’s Idol moment with Carrie Underwood singing it a long time ago. I think Lil is safe but I think that she can do better.
Adam Lambert: Performed “Ring of Fire.” I know there were mixed feelings about this one but I LOVED IT. They always talk about the contestants doing something unique with a song, and I thought that his rendition of a Cash classic was interesting and I was captivated. I plan in downloading it tonight.
Scott MacIntyre: Performed “Wild Angels.” I definitely wasn’t a fan today. I agree with Simon that Scott should be able to keep himself behind the piano; however, I thought the vocal was extremely mediocre. Also, I need him to choose songs that are not so “inspirational.”
Alexis Grace: Performed “Jolene.” I love this song. I love Alexis Grace. I loved the performance. Period.I do agree with Kara’s commentary though, some of Alexis’ edge was gone this week. Hopefully, it doesn’t hurt her.
Danny Gokey: Performed “Jesus Take the Wheel.” Finally one of the contestants had the balls to perform a song recorded by a past Idol winner. The one issue I had with his performance is that the entire first half of the song was in such a stationary tone and it isn’t Gokey’s strength. He definitely added some soul to the song but I don’t get that “chill” I was hoping for. He should be fine.
Anoop Desai: Performed “You Are Always on My Mind.” I am going to steal a line from Paula, “You’ve got tender, amazing, sweet vocals.” He definitely was able to redeem himself from last week. I think he might be safe again.
Megan Corkrey: Performed “I Go Walking After Midnight.” She is slowly growing on me. The song was a bit slow and not the most vocally challenging but she sang it well and it had the Megan Corkrey spin. Oh and she had the flu? I imagine that is why a few of those notes sounded a bit odd.
Matt Giraud: Performed “So Small.” So in one night we get two Carrie Underwood songs?! This week was the first time I looked at Matt as a good singer and artist. Everything prior to this seemed like he was trying too hard and this one seemed almost effortless even though it is a difficult song. I hope he keeps this road as the contest progresses.
Ep. “Bloodshot”
YAY! The Mentalist and Simon Baker have returned after what seems like weeks and weeks of repeats. This week we got to have quite a few comedic moments with Patrick Jane temporarily loses his vision after an explosion. Also, it was interesting seeing the flashbacks into Jane’s past when he was a “psychic.”
The overall case of this week was a bit predictable. I immediately thought the detective’s boyfriend was involved, and it turns out that he was the murderer.
The episode was highly enjoyable and I am glad that it is back. Can’t wait for next week.
Ep. “New York State of Mind”
I haven’t gotten to this one yet but I will write something the minute I get to watch it.

Ep. “Nanny McDead”
Ep. “She’s A Little Scared of the Stick”
Ep. “Infamous”
Ep. “You’re Gonna Want That Tooth”
Ep. “I Will Follow You Into the Dark”
Ep. “Daniel & Chris”
Daniel Maltzman, age 46, is a name-dropping celebrity artist. In the beginning, when I saw his tape, I thought the exact same things as Patty. He’s a man obsessed with celebrity and incapable of humility. Patty gives him some constrictive criticism that he takes to heart and he definitely changed my opinion of him by the end of the episode. He took Lauren on a date to Dolce, (which I thought was funny since the last date that was there in season 1 was a disaster) but the date seemed to go well and Lauren and Daniel had obvious chemistry. Daniel also gave Lauren a painting of herself that was quite good. His art is pretty amazing; in fact, if you want to see any of it go to his website,
Chris Palzis is a 39-year-old children’s book author who has a little bit of an ageist issue. He apparently will only date petite, brunette women between 21 and 28. The thing about Chris that I did like was that he didn’t let his success go to his head. He is basically a bohemian millionaire. A mellow surfer who doesn’t care about money or status as long as the waves are breaking. The ageist issue was a major portion of the show; Patty sends him to a therapist to try and “cure” him as well as stock the mixer with women over 30 to prove her point. He ends up dating a laidback yoga instructor, Yvonne, and they have an unorthodox (millionaire) date at the beach surfing. I personally think dates like that are the best. They’re unpretentious and fun. In the end, Chris somewhat figured out Yvonne’s age and stuck her in the “friendzone.”
Ep. “Do You Light the Way I Look?”

Ep. “Eye Candy”
Ep. “Chuck Versus the Lethal Weapon”

Ep. “Panama City”
Ep. “Grey Hour”

Ep. “12 Chefs Compete”
Jeff Koz is a 49-year-old, Grammy-nominated jazz musician/producer (and the brother of famous jazz musician Dave Koz). He joins the Millionaire’s Club after a divorce, and according to Patti, he is dealing with “divorced-dad-itus.” According to her, “his picker is off.” He really seemed like a great guy. I thought his dates were pretty entertaining. His first date with Clarissa was hilarious because he just didn’t know what to do with her. His second date with Brandi was obviously more comfortable for him. Unfortunately, Brandi wasn’t feeling him as much. Poor Jeff!
Harold Wrobel is 49, old and lonely. He is a returner from season 1, but he is still the gross letch he was before. To help him with his younger-woman issue, Patti decides to take drastic measures to help Harold get over his narcissistic ways by giving him a “dating intervention.” This time, Patti decides to just give him a date with a woman that she thinks is right rather than having him go through the typical mixer process. I think he is disgusting. I don’t understand his infatuation with younge women when he is soooo old. And I don’t know if I am totaly off on this but for some reason he reminds me of Stephan from Top Chef. Also, what was that intimate information he told Michelle? I NEED TO KNOW!
